It's the water, it's the wood, it's the corn! You rock, Billyblues. We haven't had that much ruckus in Bloomfield since the '53 UFO incident.

Billyblues has got the best words of any band I know. When is the next CD coming out?

I love the Billyblues music but have to say some of there lyrics is on the suggestive side--body in bed and such. But a suggestion is not a order and I am trying to think on the bright side. They seem like good Christian boys. I did smell whiskey on one of there breaths but that was the drummer I think. Any way no bodys perfect. Peter denied Jesus and went on to be the foundation of the Christian church. I don't expect any thing like that from the Billyblues but do look forward to many more years of good music and hope that if any thing siggestive comes along they will leave it out or at least tone it down a little.

Billyblues is my favorite band by a mile. The words, the music, the harmonies, the beat, the sound--they've got it. And, oh yeah, they're cute too!

Rowdy, rollicking Natasha's show! Eastern Kentucky music to go with the Eastern Europe cuisine? Well, it was spicy all around. Thanks for the great time.

Two good new ones in the sampler, BillyBlues. Both are old-timey in catchy ways. "Playing the Odds" has some Hank Williams twang and a fun singalong chorus. "Pick Up" is sort of an update on the folk story-song. Cellphones and Porsches instead of beaver hats and wild roses. Both songs are vocal-centric, which really works for you because the lyrics are so strong. That's my two cents.

We like those demos! One is good, the other evil. Really evil. The light production on both is nice, different. Very present. Makes a real human connection. Put up more! And when is the new CD going to be finished? Time for new product!

Friend of a friend sent me your video link. That's a really good song. You should play in Cincy area. Good audience here for thoughtful Americana like this.

You guys were awesome at Butchertown. Especially loved that Ray Charles song. (Your drummer is really cute. Why not put him out front and the rest of you play behind him.)

February 6, 2007

Is it true you guys will be cutting new tracks in Nashville next month? Here's a vote for more bluesgrass and rockabilly tunes.

HI, I love your music, and it was terrific meeting you all at that party in Lynchburg. I'm friends with Jim and Harriet Peterson, and I'm back home now in Michigan. Please let me know if your band ever makes it up to west Michigan. Sue

I think the band is wonderful, but I think David White's name should be mentioned also.

June 23, 2006

re your latest email, I'm concerned because I don't know who Little Billy is. He sounds like a dog but might actually be a goat or something. Before I contribute to the fund jar even if I ever make it to Kentucky, I'll have to know what he is because sometimes there's a difference.

I hope you will soon print a t-shirt with the cover photo from Moods of St. Mildreds on it. I llike that picture, as it seems to personify your music.

Robert Lidowski

June 8, 2006

Hey Dr. Lucas,

Just thought we'd let you know we still listen to your CDs every week. Keep the music going and put out a new CD soon.

Sincerely,
Robert and Heather

P.S. - The "Third Shot" link in your buy stuff section is broken.

I put fingers to keyboard not to praise Billyblues, but to condemn them. These boys claims to be playing the blues, but why, if you listen close, you can hear all kinds of things slopped in there--country, rock, even some of jazz music. But what really galls me, is that if you sit back and just listen, you'll be enjoying the stuff in spite of yourself. It ain't right.

I knowed Lucas back in the days he went by his given name of "Hammer Thumb." he used to sit outside "Paulines Oil Change and Barbeque Emporium" and play any type of instrument anyone would bring to him... not well, but it was worth the nickel us kids would donate to his Boone's Farm fund. This was before the days he had an honest day job,but after doin' 8 to 10 for shinin'.He spit a lot in those days. I'm proud his sound got smoother. He still smells like baloney.

All is forgiven--even the cinnamon-flavored applesauce. Just get that next CD out soon. I really can't wait much longer.

Great to hear from my favorite blues band again. Since I am no longer at Centre Shoppes (am disabled now, and bored to tears!), I don't get to keep up with all of the Centre happenings. So pleased to hear about the new CD, and can't wait to hear it! Keep the great music coming.

BILLYBLUES does what they do really well when they do it, especially when they do it just about before midnight when it's based on that way they did it in the old days when was more like they did it before than it used to be. I like the T-shirt too.
